MBAF ranked sixth in the large company category of South Florida Business Journal's 2017 "Best Places to Work".
30-second cocktail party pitch: MBAF is more than just an accounting firm, we’re a true business resource. Our entrepreneurial spirit helps our clients grow, identifying risks and opportunities for their business. What makes us so valuable? It’s our people and our family culture. Happy employees makes happy clients – and we all prosper.
How do employees discover how the firm and its culture are faring at MBAF? Some read the MBAF Times, the bi-monthly internal newsletter that shares info about the firm and people. The firm also hosts Breakfasts with Tony, where Chairman and CEO Tony Argiz visits each office to hold a special breakfast roundtable where employees gather to discuss, face-to-face, firm happenings and ask questions.
Employees also participate in annual focus groups in every office where the floor is opened to discuss almost everything people would want to share. For example, based on the feedback from last year’s focus group, the firm expanded its flexible work schedules and benefits.
These recourses are just part of the firm’s effort to keep its people informed and engaged. It also seeks to keep them on top of their game professionally through MBAF University and mentorship programs.
It’s most popular perks, beyond robust benefits, are the flexible work schedules, encouraged by employee suggestions; Monday Night Boot Camp on the rooftop of the Coral Gables office; and financial rewards that include year-end employee raises or bonuses, which continued even through the recession.
Outside the office, the firm has a robust corporate philanthropy program; employees at all levels are encouraged to get involved in more than 100 charities the firm supports.
In all, how does being a Best Place to Work affect the firm’s bottom line? In its hunt for ways to differentiate itself from other firms, MBAF knows its efforts – and awards – help it recruit and retain top-talent, which allows it to service clients more efficiently and provide exceptional client relationships.
Company culture in five words: Entrepreneurial, diverse, philanthropic, innovative and driven.
