John Praides, CPA*, is a director in the Tax and Accounting Department at MBAF and has more than 20 years’ experience providing tax planning, US tax compliance, and reporting services for both domestic and international clients. While advising clients on tax minimization strategies, his responsibilities include preparation, review, and research of federal and state tax returns for all types of entities.
John has a broad range of knowledge in partnerships and related partner allocations, REIT structures, carried interest analysis, corporate tax, and US individual tax. His experience includes US inbound and outbound transactions related to real estate, infrastructure, and private equity funds as well as acquisitions and dispositions, debt restructurings, and cross border transaction analysis. In addition, John is a subject matter resource in respect to the U.S. Passive Foreign Investment Company (PFIC) and controlled foreign corporation (CFC)/subpart F rules as well as the Foreign Investment Real Property Tax Act (FIRPTA).
